A brother of the municipal mayor of Loboc town is in hot water after he harassed broadcast journalist, Chito Visarra inside the residence of Gemma Balbin in barangay Jimili-an, Loboc town last Sunday evening.

Henry Calipusan, brother of Mayor Helen Alaba “violently entered Balbin’s residence without permission and threatened Visarra after he barged into the house and shouted in front of Ms. Balbin “Na kay atraso naku, si Chito naa poy atraso naku. Ayaw ko ninyo ing-ania kay pwedi isod mo naku sa akong mga kamot” 

Efforts to contact the Calipusans’ proved futile as no one answered the phone of Mayor Alaba when contacted by The Chronicle. However, earlier last Sunday, former Mayor Leon Calipusan said that he does not like Visarra’s actuations like questioning the building of their ongoing construction of a residence beside Balbin’s residence.

Asked to comment on this, Visarra said he did not take up any personal issue against the Calipusans except for public issues such as the floating restaurant operation in Loboc.

Visarra, who anchors the top-rated “Inyong Alagad” program was asked to take an authorized leave during today’s program in order to maintain balance of the story while the Calipusan’s will be asked again to air their side during the radio program.

Before entering the house, the mayor’s brother attempted to throw stone at Visarra shouting in vernacular “litse kang yawaa ka pahawod hawod ka di raba ka taga diri.” Visarra ignored him while he was brought inside the house by Balbin to avoid further verbal tussle with Calipusan.

The commotion was triggered after Calipusan allegedly got mad to Visarra who called their attention of a burning fire outside Calipusan’s residence next to Balbin’s house. Visarra called their neighbor’s attention for fear of the fire since their house was made of light materials. The fire was believed to be set by friends of Calipusan who were having a drinking spree and could have prepared the fire grill to cook some food.

Loboc PNP officer-in-charge said Calipusan allegedly pulled Ms. Balbin and attempted to punch her, as alleged by the complainants who went to the Loboc police station after the incident.
PO3 Gujelde went to the scene after Visarra called the Loboc PNP for assistance.

However, the police was allegedly prevented by Calipusan to enter Balbin’s residence in order to investigate the incident.

Former Loboc Mayor Leon Calipusan who was in Tagbilaran at the time of the commotion assured to check on the incident. Minutes later his younger sister, incumbent Mayor Helen arrived at the scene and talked with their brother, Henry.

The entry of Calipusan where he verbally threatened the Balbin family was captured in a video cam which generated thousands of reactions on social media. Balbin’s children were crying when Calipusan barged into their residence for fear of their lives.

Visarra told the police that Calipusan forcibly opened the gate by kicking it to enter the Balbin residence. Upon entering the house, the mayor’s brother violently intimidated them  by pointing fingers at them while he was shouting at them.

Formal charges will be filed in court  by Visarra and the Balbin family, who sought police assistance from PNP Prov’l Director Dennis Agustin for their safety and protection since Calipusan resides just nearby.
