Two Boholanos were among the 138 examinees who passed the licensure board for optometrists given by the Professional Regulations Commission (PRC) last July this year. There were 169 who took the board exams.
The new optometrists are Dr. Mikaela M. Maniwan and Dr. Gabrielle M. Leyson.
Dr. Maniwan graduated from the Centro Escolar University. She is a student fellow of the American Academy of Optometry (AAO) while Dr. Leyson is a graduate of Cebu Doctors College.
Dr. Maniwan is the daughter of Dr. & Mrs. Jojo Maniwan while Leyson is the daughter of Dr. & Mrs. Jojie Leyson, both families owning their respective optical clinics in the city.
The new young optometrists belong to their third generation of optometrists in both the Maniwan and Leyson families.
The licensure exams were administered by PRC Board of Optometry headed by its chairman, Dr. Teresita R. Yambot, and its members, Dr. Mary Rose S. Paredes and Dr. Bernardita A. Garcia.
