A man was killed while two others were injured following a road accident involving the motorcycle of all three victims and a sports utility vehicle (SUV) in Baclayon at 4 p.m. on Sunday.
Authorities identified the fatality as Rodel Guera and the other victim who was severely injured as Catalino Dacusala, both passengers and residents of Barangay Cambanac, Baclayon.
Meanwhile, the motorcycle’s driver, Edwin Badiang, suffered minor injuries.
Based on initial police investigation, the driver of a Ford Everest, Julie Malalis, an 18-year-old resident of Aburquerque, said that the ill-fated motorcycle was accidentally sideswiped by her vehicle.
According to Malilis, she was travelling towards Tagbilaran City when the victims tried to overtake another vehicle causing them to cross to her lane.
This caused both vehicles which were travelling towards opposite directions to partially collide.
The motorcycle then reportedly crashed while the victims were thrown away due to impact.
Authorities said that all three victims were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital but Guera shortly after succumbed to his injuries while Dacusala remained at the intensive care unit.
All three motorcycle passengers were not wearing protective gear during the incident, police added. (A. Doydora)
