Bohol now has a total of eight community fish-landing centers worth a total of P24 million after the latest CFLC was inaugurated in Talibon on Wednesday, said the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR).
According to BFAR Bohol officer-in-charge Leo Bongalos, the newest CFLC, which will house postharvest equipment and tools used by fishermen to preserve the quality of their catch including various aquamarine products, cost around P3 million.
The said facility is replete with an administrative office, drying areas and a 200-sqm refrigeration system, Bongalos said.
Fishermen may also utilized the CFLC as meeting place and an area for mending fishnets and repairing fishing boats, he added.
In August, the BFAR turned over a P3-million CFLC in Baclayon to the town’s local government unit (LGU).

The official turnover was led by BFAR 7 director Dr. Allan Poquita and Baclayon Mayor Benecio Uy who in turn will entrusted the facility to the town’s fishing communities.
The facility was constructed by Zamboanga-based Wil Tan Construction and the latest fish landing center to be completed before the Talibon facility.

The BFAR has previously bared that it intends to facilitate the establishment of CFLC’s in the towns of Lila, Panglao and Dauis while construction of the said facility is ongoing in Getafe and Loon.
Construction of CFLCs is part of government efforts to promote inclusive growth particularly in the fishing industry and to lower fish prices for consumers. (Rey Tutas)
