Bohol Provincial Board (PB) members on Friday expressed grief over the passing of longtime Catholic Church leader Cebu Archbishop Emeritus Ricardo Vidal and former Guindulman Mayor Lilio Amora.
In two resolutions, provincial legislators honored both men during their regular session on Friday morning led by Board Member Alexie Tutor, chair of the PB’s committee on tourism.
The board members also extended their condolences to the relatives of Vidal and Amora who passed away on Wednesday and Saturday, respectively.
Meanwhile, the Diocese of Tagbilaran also expressed sympathies to the family of Vidal.
Vidal who was the country’s most senior cardinal died at the age of 86 died at the Intensive Care Unit of the Perpetual Succour Hospital in Cebu City.
He was the archbishop of Cebu for 29 years starting 1982 until his retirement in 2011.
According to Msgr. Joseph Tan, media liaison officer of the Archdiocese of Cebu, Vidal will be laid to rest on October 26 at the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral.
While in Guindulman, Amora will be buried at the Guindulman Catholic Cemetery tomorrow.
Amora was a judge at the Municipal Circuit Trial Court of Ubay and was the mayor of the said town in 1964 until Martial Law was declared in 1972.
According to media man Fred Amora, the late former mayor’s nephew, Amora died of pneumonia at the age of 90. (RT)
