Bohol which brags of her being a top destination continues to get negative ratings as far as its existing airport facilities are concerned.
Flight cancellations again marred Bohol’s image after an AirAsia plane got stalled at the tarmac of the Tagbilaran City Airport yesterday afternoon causing the cancellation of its return flight to Manila as well as the incoming PAL flight from and back to Manila.
Damaged plane tire of AirAsia Flt no. 354 caused 98 Manila bound passengers stranded while some 220 passengers could not fly in and out of the province after PAL Flt. no. 2278 was also cancelled.
Passengers, both at the city airport and those on board the PAL flight from Manila were grumbling on when this perennial problem under the “one-plane” policy be solved.
The supposedly rush construction of the emergency ramp is delayed otherwise the stalled plane could have been pulled to the ramp so no interruption of incoming flights will be encountered.
PAL Flt. 2278 has to fly back to Manila after being informed of the stalled plane at the City Airport. At first, PAL diverted to Mactan International Airport in Cebu, but later have to fly back to Manila after being informed that the AIrAsia plane could not be out of the tarmac until sundown.
Engr. Loreto Nemesio of C.B. Garay Philwide Builders Construction earlier told The Chronicle that the emergency ramp be completed by the end of this month. However, there are indications that the work will be delayed further. The government allocated P38 million for the emergency ramp which is the only solution when a plane get stalled at the runway.
