A male pedestrian was killed after he was ran over by delivery van allegedly driven by a drunk driver in Calape on Sunday.
Authorities identified the victim as Danilo Mira, 42, of Barangay Liboron in Calape.
Witnesses told police that the van driven by Leonido Sol, a 42-year-old resident of Barangay Sagbayan Sur in Sagbayan, was zigzagging along the road prior to the incident.

The van eventually went straight into victim at around 9 a.m. while he was walking at the side of the road.

Sol then allegedly sped away, while Mira was rushed to a hospital.
However, Mira was declared dead on arrival as he succumbed to his injuries.
According to the Calape police, Sol was later on arrested after a concerned citizen saw the van parked behind the town’s public market and reported the sighting to authorities.
Sol was taken into police custody with a companion who authorities did not identify.
Police also confirmed that Sol was drunk during the incident.
A criminal case for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide was filed against him yesterday. (A. Doydora)
