Bohol-based lawyer Ingemar “Pinoy Aquaman” Macarine will cross waters between Pamilacan Island and Alona Beach in Panglao in a charity swim to promote tourism in the resort town and clean seas.
Macarine told media during the Capitol’s weekly radio program,”Kita ug ang Governador,” on Friday that the attempt would also be part of his preparation for his “last and final” attempt to cross the English Channel next year.
According to Macarine, he will be swimming a distance of 15 km from Pamilican Island to Panglao on Sunday.
Macarine will start to swim from Pamilacan at 5 a.m. and is expected to arrive at his destination six hours later.
The Pinoy Aquaman’s latest open-water swim is being supported by the Integrated Bar of the Philippines- Bohol Chapter led by Atty. Warren Yap and the Dagohoy Lodge #84 through Atty. Popot Marapao.
This will be 34th open-water swim for Macarine in seas both in the Philippines and the United States.
He is also set to cross a 10-km distance in Masbate next month, he said.

In August next year, Macarine will again attempt to cross the English Channel, a swimming route considered as the “Mt. Everest” for open-water swimming.
He tried to achieve the feat in August, this year but was not able to make it across the frigid waters of the channel.
Macarine was swimming about 3.8 km (2.3 miles) from Dover in the United Kingdom on his way to France when his swim was stopped because of bad weather. (rt)
