A Capitol employee and his suspected associate in the drug trade were allegedly caught in possession of shabu worth P230,000 in a drug buy-bust operation in Dauis town on Tuesday night.
Daniel Galo, 44, a casual employee of the provincial government and a Clarin native, was arrested along with one Allan Somorostro, 45, of Tagbilaran by Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) operatives.
In a report, the PDEA indicated that its agents spotted Galo selling illegal drugs at around 7:20 p.m. near his house at Purok 7 in Barangay Totolan, Dauis.
The operatives then set up a sting operation against Galo who allegedly sold a pack (bulto) of shabu worth P26,500 to an undercover agent.
According to authorities, the suspect immediately fled the area after transacting with the poseur-buyer leading to a pursuit.
Galo however was immediately cornered inside his home where the PDEA found 20 grams of shabu with an estimated street value of P230,000 and Somorostro who was also taken into custody by the authorities.
Both suspects are now detained in Camp Dagohoy in Tagbilaran City and will be charged for violations against Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (W. Maestrado)
