A motorcycle-riding man who was flagged down by roving police officers in Tagbilaran City was allegedly caught in possession of an unlicensed firearm at around 1 a.m. on Tuesday, police said.
Authorities identified the suspect as Angelo Gamayot, 23, of Barangay Ginopolan, Valencia.
According to PO3 Ignacio Inojales, Gamayot was spotted driving his motorcycle which had no plate number by Special Weapons and Tactics policemen who were conducting patrols.
The police were reportedly just about to issue a citation ticket to Gamayot for violating the “No Plate, No Travel Policy.”
However, as he was accosted by police along Graham Street, the suspect tried to escape but was immediately cornered by the operatives, said Inojales.
The police then found a .9mm Norinco pistol tucked in Gamayot’s waist and one live round of the same caliber as he was frisked.
Gamayot was detained at the Tagbilaran City lock-up jail while a case for violation against Republic Act 10591 or illegal possession of firearm is set to be filed against him. (WM)
