A 40-year-old man was shot dead by a still unidentified suspect in the town of Sagbayan at past 6 a.m. on Monday.
The Sagbayan police identified the victim as Juan Maglajos, a 40-year-old resident of Purok 1, Barangay San Roque in the said town.
Based on police investigation, the victim, who was an active member of Bantay Bayan, was driving his motorcycle towards his house when he was repeatedly shot by the lone suspect.
The gunman was reportedly waiting for Maglajos at Purok 6 in Barangay Ubujan.
According to authorities, the victim was initially hit in his shoulder causing him to fall to the ground.
The suspect then shot Maglajos, who was already sprawled on the ground, at point-blank range in his chest and forehead, police said.
Meanwhile, investigators are still facing a blank wall as to the motive in Maglajos’ murder and the suspect’s identity.
Police found spent shells fired from a .45 caliber pistol at the crime scene. (ad)
