A 19-year-old woman on Saturday was allegedly sexually harassed by a “habal-habal” (motorcycle-for-hire) driver causing her to jump from the moving vehicle in Tagbilaran City injuring herself.
Authorities identified the victim as Conie Qion, a native of Bilar who is temporarily living in Barangay Cogon in Tagbilaran.
Qion told police that the still unidentified driver caressed her legs while she boarded his motorcycle at dawn on Saturday.
The driver allegedly took Qion to Lamdagan Street and sexually harassed her there prompting her to jump from the moving motorcycle.
The suspect immediately fled the area after the incident, said the victim.
According to Qion, she was about to attend Mass at the St. Joseph’s Cathedral and was walking along CPG Avenue when she decided to avail of the suspect’s service.
Qion said that she rode the motorcycle as she was in hurry.
In a report, police indicated that Qion suffered bruises all over her body after she jumped from the moving vehicle.
Meanwhile, personnel of the Tagbilaran police’s criminal investigation section have been tasked to launch a probe on the case. (WM)
