October 15, Thursday, is day of prayer and thanksgiving to commemorate the 2nd anniversary of the magnitude 7.2 Great Bohol earthquake.
Provincial officials led by Gov. Edgar Chatto and Vice Governor Concepcion Lim will lead government, private sector, civil society, academe and religious in offering a Holy Mass at the St. Joseph’s Cathedral at 8:15am, to be officiated by Diocese of Tagbilaran Bishop Leonardo Medroso.
Gov. Chatto,City Mayor John Geesnell Yap and Bishop Medroso will deliver their messages, incites and challenges about the event.
The opening of an exhibit which will run from October 15 through October 27 follows at 9:30am at the Bohol Cultural Center.
The exhibit will showcase interventions of the various clusters comprising the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, depicting Bohol’s road to recovery in the past two years.
The clusters include Infrastructure like the Bohol Earthquake Funded and locally projects, repaired buildings, roads and bridges; the Health and nutrition cluster; Livelihood and social welfare cluster to feature the different cash for work and livelihood programs of DOLE, DSWD, BEPO, TESDA among others.
Other clusters like Shelter and international and CSO partners; Church and cultural heritage, education, environment, ports development and agriculture will also put up their own exhibits.
A simultaneous ringing of bells will be conducted at 8:12am, which will last for 33 seconds, to begin the day’s simple commemorative activities.
