A bakeshop in Carmen lost P39,000 to robbers who allegedly used a knockout chemical to sedate an employee of the establishment while they stole the cash on Thursday.

Maria Ana Robles, 25, branch manager of Arbee’s bakeshop, told police that two male suspects suddenly barged into the store’s office at around 1:20 p.m.

One of the suspects then went near her and allegedly covered her nose and mouth with cloth which was drenched in a knockout formula believed to be chloroform.

Robles said that she lost consciousness and was unaware of what the suspects did next.

After regaining consciousness, Robles saw that the office was ransacked while the cash was already missing.

Robles was able to call authorities at 2:29 p.m. but the suspects had already fled with the cash.

According to SPO1 Ruben Miniosa of the Carmen police, they are still continuing their investigation on the case.

Investigators are still facing a blank wall as to the identities of the suspects, he said.

Robles, meanwhile, was also unable to see the suspects’ faces.

She told police that the robbers had their faces covered with a bonnet.

According to Miniosa, they are still verifying whether closed-circuit television cameras of nearby establishments were able to capture the incident. (A. Doydora)
