Most Reverend Archbishop Gabriele Giordano Caccia, the Apostolic Nuncio to the Philippines, will be visiting Bohol for the first time today for the official turnover of the rehabilitated Baclayon Church to the Diocese of Tagbilaran.
The highest ranking church official representing the Vatican in the Philippines requested to dispense with the usual welcome protocol including the plane-side military honors upon arrival at the Tagbilaran City Airport.
He will make a few stops before and after heading to the centuries-old Baclayon Church where turnover ceremonies are scheduled to start at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
From the airport, a motorcade will bring Caccia to the St. Joseph Cathedral where Bishop Abet Uy will welcome him. A liturgical reception will be afforded to the Nuncio at the cathedral.
He will do an ocular visit to the parish churches of Maribojoc and Loon where both churches were devastated during the strong earthquake which rocked the province four years ago.
Caccia will officiate a Holy Mass at the cathedral at 5:30 this afternoon.
He will then be tendered with a testimonial dinner later in the evening.
The Nuncio will officiate another Mass after the turnover of the Baclayon Church at 10 o’clock Tuesday morning.
Prior his departure back to Manila on Tuesday afternoon, he will have a conference with the Tagbilaran clergy and religious where he will deliver a talk focused on themes developed to mark the Year of the Clergy and Consecrated Life.
The church official will fly back to Manila via PAL at 4:45 tomorrow afternoon.
