One of the premier school institutions in the City and in the Province, Bohol Island State University (BISU) celebrated their 6th Charter Day last week. Attended by Bohol’s prime public officials, led by Department of Agriculture Secretary Proceso Alcala, Governor Edgar M. Chatto and City Mayor John Geesnell “BABA†Yap. The occasion also witnessed the recognition of the university’s most dedicated and committed employees. Mayor Yap in his message recognized the valuable contributions of the state university, specifically the honour it has brought to the province. With a consistent high passing percentage in national board exams and board top-notchers, Mayor Yap stressed that BISU is indeed riding the waves of success.
Further, the City Mayor affirmed the achievements of  BISU on three accounts. First, is the university’s accomplished graduates. Mayor Yap recognized the dedication of the faculty for providing quality education to the students.
Second, Mayor Yap affirmed the valuable input of the university to the development of the City and the Province. BISU has been committed in offering lesser tuition fees which open educational opportunities for the underprivileged. “Tungod sa BISU, daghang mga damgo ang natuman ug daghang kaugmaun ang mas nagmalambuon. Mao nga dako gayud ang natampo sa BISU sa atong mga kabataan ug sa ilang mga pamilyaâ€, Mayor Yap added.
Lastly, BISU is known to be a university that produces not just mere graduates but job-ready individuals. Their graduates are in demand because employers are assured of the excellent quality of workers that they are going to have. Mayor Yap closed his message by thanking the University for their commitment to quality education and congratulating the school administrators, faculty and staff of the institution.
