The dismissal order meted by the Office of the Ombudsman against Panglao Mayor Leonila Montero was implemented by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) on Thursday afternoon.
This was confirmed by Municipal Local Government Officer Sofonio Abing in an interview with station dyRD.
According to Abing, DILG provincial director Louisela Luceno was personally supposed to serve the dismissal order at the residence of Montero in Barangay Tawala at 2 p.m.
Montero however was apparently not at her house.
The DILG instead posted the dismissal order outside the mayor’s office, said Abing.
It was posted as notice to the public and also to signify that the order was served to the office.
Following the dismissal, Panglao Vice Mayor Pedro Fuertes is expected to be installed as the town’s mayor while the first councilor will replace him.
