The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) in Tagbilaran City will soon be transferring to a new office after a P7-million budget for the agency’s new building was approved, said an official.

According to Capt. Edgar Boado, PCG Central Visayas deputy commander, they are now awaiting the bidding of the construction contract.

Work on the new building is expected to start within the year after the bidding process, said Boado who was the commander of PCG Tagbilaran before he was reassigned earlier this month.

PCG Tagbilaran will be transferring from a small rented building along K of C Drive in Tagbilaran City where the substation has been located for over a decade.

According to Boado, the PCG is also planning to upgrade its substations in Ubay and Talibon.

Officials are now seeking for budget to fund the projects, he said.

Earlier, Boado who was the previous commander of PCG Tagbilaran said that the agency has started efforts to “activate” more PCG stations in Bohol’s coastal municipalities.

PCG stations were established this year in Loay and Getafe under Boado’s leadership as the highest ranking PCG official in Bohol.

The PCG is also currently planning to build a coast guard station in President Carlos P. Garcia, he said. (AD)
