A casual employee of the Dagohoy local government unit remains in critical condition after he was hacked by a man who he allegedly shot at in the said town.
Victim Asterio Eyana, a resident of Barangay Mahayag, Dagohoy sustained hack wounds in his head and various parts of his body, police said.
According to PO2 Gilrey Calvario of the Dagohoy Police Station, the incident happened at around 4 p.m. near the house of suspect Niño Candog, 46.
Prior to the hacking incident, Eyana along with one unidentified companion beat Candog up due to personal conflict, said Calvario based on the suspect’s statement.
Candog went home after the mauling incident but Eyana allegedly followed him.
The suspect also claimed that Eyana tried to shoot him twice. The gun malfunctioned on the first try while the second shot missed, Candog told authorities.
This reportedly gave Candog a chance to use his bolo to hack Eyana multiple times.
Eyana was immediately rushed to a hospital on board a police patrol car while Candog was arrested.
According to Calvario, Candog was taken into police custody and will be charged with frustrated murder. (A. Doydora)
