Governor Edgar Chatto has been confined at the St. Luke’s Medical Center in Quezon City after experiencing palpitations since Saturday.

This was confirmed by Provincial Administrator Alfonso Damalerio on Monday morning.

According to Damalerio, Chatto was airlifted to Metro Manila on board a private plane at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday and was accompanied by his wife, Balilihan Mayor Pureza Chatto.

Damalerio assured the public that Chatto, 58, is in stable condition.

However, doctors advised the governor to rest while assessments on his health were being made.

“Okay man siya but gi-advice siya nga mo-take og rest para properly ma-monitor ug ma-assess,” said Damalerio.

In a later statement, Chatto told the Chronicle that he started to feel unwell on Saturday afternoon after he led the inauguration of the Loboc School of Music in Jamili-an, Loboc on Saturday afternoon.

“Just left Loboc School of Music where we inaugurated a new school building I promised to be built for the Loboc Youth Ambassador Band when I didn’t feel well,” said Chatto.

The governor was then taken to the Ramiro Community Hospital in Tagbilaran City for a checkup. But after his palpitation, doctors suggested to have  Chatto taken to St. Luke’s.

“My doctors are here in Manila including medical records since congressman pa. My yearly executive checks are always done here. Flights were overbooked and a friend offered a private plane,” said Chatto.

Meanwhile, acting Vice Governor Venzencio Arcamo has temporarily taken over Chatto’s duties as governor while the latter remains confined at the hospital. (Rey Tutas)
