All is set for the 30th Anniversary Celebration of Alturas on November 24, as the city’s premiere shopping center marks another milestone in serving the Boholanos for three decades.

Alturas Mall manager Leo Quicoy said the main highlight in the celebration is the 28th Alturas Drum & Bugle Corps Showdown, scheduled on November 21, Saturday, at the CPG Sports Complex, where sixteen of the best and the finest drum and bugle corps in Visayas and Mindanao are participating in this year’s showdown which also feature guest celebrities, GMA-7 Starstruck artist Kyle Vergara; Pinoy Big Brother Teen Clash 2010 4th Big Winner Devon Seron; Viva Artist Kris Angelica; Acoustic Heartthrob Vince Soriano; and Showtime’s “That’s My Tomboy’ Grand Winner, Epey Herher, plus plus the Mega Crew Dance Battle and HiperActive Entertainment, with a spectacular Fireworks Display in the evening.

Other anniversary events are the ongoing “Adlaw-Adlaw Papremyo” promo at Alturas Mall, where thirty lucky customers will win one grocery pack each daily for 30 days; the 3-Day Anniversary Sale on November 24, 25, and 26, where discounts of up to 70% are also given away on great selections at the Home & Fashion Department; plus samplings and giveaways, and other fun and surprises for everyone.

In this year’s Alturas Drum & Bugle Corps Showdown, the participating contingents in three categories are Category A – 16-time champion Bohol Island State University (BISU)–Main Campus, Tagbilaran City; 2-time defending champion Davao Blue Eagle Marching Band, Davao City; a first-timer and one of Eastern Visayas’ best and finest drum corps, Naval State University (NSU), Naval, Biliran; and Tres San Miguel, Polanco, Zamboanga del Norte; Category B – Holy Cross Academy-Tubigon, Bohol; defending champion Mayuga Nat’l High School, Guindulman, Bohol; Nahawan Nat’l High School, Clarin, Bohol;  and last year’s 2nd Runner-Up Sandingan Nat’l High School, Loon, Bohol; and Category C – first-timer Bagumbayan Elem. School, Pilar, Bohol; last year’s 2nd Runner-Up Bonbon Elem. School, Clarin, Bohol; first-timer Jetafe Central Elementary School; first-timer La Victoria Elem. School, Valencia, Bohol; defending champion Manga Elem. School, Tagb. City; first-timer Mayuga Elem. School, Guindulman, Bohol; first-timer Nahawan Elem. School; Clarin, Bohol; and last year’s 1st Runner-Up Ubay Central Elem. School.

More than a million pesos of cash prizes and allowances are given away in this year’s Showdown. The prizes to be awarded are Category A: Champion, P100,000 plus trophy; 1st Runner-Up, P70,000 plus trophy; 2nd Runner-Up, P50,000 plus trophy; Category B: Champion, P80,000 plus trophy; 1st Runner-Up, P60,000 plus trophy; 2nd Runner-Up, P40,000 plus trophy; Category C: Champion, P80,000 plus trophy; 1st Runner-Up, P60,000 plus trophy; 2nd Runner-Up, P40,000 plus trophy.

A P3,000 plus trophy will also be awarded to the drum corps in each category adjudged as Best in Production Design, Best in Instrumentation, Best in Choreography, and Best in Rhythm and Dynamics. For all categories combined, a cash prize of P1,000 plus trophy is awarded to the Best in Uniform, Best in Discipline, Best in Parade Impact, Best Corps Major, Best Corps Majorette, Darling of the Crowd, Best in Entertainment, Most Colorful Corps, Best in Boholano Ambience, Best in Synchronization, Best in Jingle, and Miss Alturas Showdown.
