A 38-year-old married woman who had seven children with her 70-year-old husband was shot dead with her alleged lover by a still unidentified gunman inside an abandoned house in Carmen town.

The victims were found by residents inside an abandoned house in Sitio Sucon, Barangay Guadalupe both with single gunshot wounds in the head. They were about to eat dinner when they were shot and killed, police said.

The Carmen Police Station identified the victims as Wilfredo Ceniza, a 52-year-old widower who lived in Barangay Guadalupe, Carmen, and Milda Dagupan of Barangay El Progreso, Carmen.

Their lifeless bodies were found Saturday morning by residents who investigated the abandoned house after hearing what they believed was gunshot on Friday evening.

According to Carmen police chief Sr. Insp. Hernan Legazpi, police are eyeing the victims’ affair as possible motive behind the fatal shooting.

Dagupan’s husband has long been aware of his wife’s affair, said Legazpi.

However, Legazpi noted that the husband was unlikely behind the crime as he already has difficulty in walking and hearing due to old age.

It is possible that people close to Dagupan’s husband may have taken matters into their own hands and carried out the killing due to ire caused by the illicit relationship, he added.

Dagupan had seven children with her husband but she reportedly stopped providing for them and was home only once a week.

According to Legazpi, Dagupan had been told by her husband and family to end her affair but still continued to see Ceniza.

Police however are still continuing their investigation on the case to identify the suspect and pinpoint other possible motives. (A. Doydora)
