A man was arrested after he was allegedly caught attempting to sneak in shabu into the Tagbilaran City Police Station lock-up jail on Tuesday afternoon.

Vincent Homer Bitancor, 34, a native of Guindulman, tried to smuggle shabu into the police station’s detention facility through a gel container, said Tagbilaran police chief Supt. Patricio Degay, Jr.

The contraband was intended to be given to detainee Ulyses Sale who was arrested in a drug buy-bust operation in Tagbilaran City on Friday last week.

According to Degay, the duty jailer found the illegal drugs and a test tube as he examined the container prompting Bitancor to flee.

Bitancor allegedly boarded his Hyundai Accent but bumped another vehicle during his escape attempt allowing police to corner and arrest him.

Degay said they found 10 more packets of suspected shabu inside Bitancor’s vehicle.

The seized drugs from the car and the one meant to be smuggled into the police station were estimated to be worth P74,500.

According to Degay, Bitancor was earlier arrested by police operatives of the Provincial Public Safety Company during a drug buy-bust operation.

He was released from the Tagbilaran City Jail last month after the cases filed against him were dismissed.

A new illegal drug charge is set to be filed against Bitancor as he was detained at the Tagbilaran City Police Station lock-up facility. (W. Maestrado)
