Hunt on for 3 robbers who critically shot 2 men in Alicia

Police in Alicia are now going after three men who shot and critically injured two persons during a a failed armed robbery in the town on Saturday night.

According to SPO1 Constantine Polinar of the Alicia police, officers are trailing two men seen at a neighboring town who matched witnesses’ description of two of the three suspects who attempted to rob a convenience store owned by one Olivia Mahinay in Barangay La Hacienda.

Police however have yet to get the identities of the possible armed robbers.

Polinar said that Oleven Mahinay, 23, the store owner’s son, and Wendel Licong, 19, were critically wounded after they were shot by the armed robbers in the store at 6 p.m. on Saturday.

Before the shooting broke out, Oleven punched one of the suspects who held Olivia at gunpoint and declared a robbery, said Polinar.

Oleven however did not notice that there was another armed suspect who in turn shot him.

Licong tried to help his cousin Oleven but he ended up getting shot by the suspects as well.

The three suspects fled on board a motorcycle after the shooting.

Oleven and Licong were rushed to a hospital where they continued to be treated for their injuries.

According to Polinar, the armed robbers were not able to steal anything from the store during the incident. (A. Dodydora)
