A police officer landed in the hospital after he accidentally slammed into a mini dump truck while driving a motorcycle along a national highway in Baclayon on Wednesday afternoon.
Senior Police Officer 4 Ramon Rulona of the Baclayon Police Station identified the victim as PO2 Felix Cajaro, a police officer assigned in Loay and a resident of Loboc.
Cajaro was trailing the truck driven by one Pablo Doblas and owned by Labb Construction when the latter suddenly made a U-turn in Barangay Laya, said Rulona based on their initial probe.
The police officer then hit the side of the truck causing him to crash.
According to Rulona, Cajaro was travelling at high speed which may have given him less time to avoid the truck.
Cajaro was immediately rushed to a hospital where he continued to be treated for his injures as of Thursday morning.
The truck was taken into police custody while the owner of the vehicle made an assurance to pay for the injured police officer’s hospital bill.
Rulona said that Cajaro was wearing a helmet which may have prevented more severe injuries. (A. Doydora)
