The Land Transportation Office (LTO) in Tagbilaran City has grounded four buses of the Southern Star Bus Transit, Inc. (SSBTI) after these were suspected of having insufficient documents to operate.
Two of the buses were found to be unregistered while documents of the two other buses provided by the SSBTI were submitted to the LTO’s regional office for verification, said LTO Tagbilaran information officer Florencio Balazuela.
LTO 7 looked into the buses’ documents including their registration and franchise.
According to Balazuela, the LTO 7’s operations division led by Macky Getaruelas carried out the interception and impounding of the four bus units on Sunday.
Based on a Joint Administrative Order, unregistered public utility vehicles may be fined P12,000, he said.
The SSBTI units remained at the LTO office in Tagbilaran as of Monday pending the verification of the their documents. (rt)
