Hospitals across Bohol have been directed to be prepared in anticipation of fireworks injuries after the Department of Health Central Visayas (DOH-7) placed the region under “code white alert.”
According to Provincial Health Officer Dr. Cesar Tomas Lopez, the alert was raised in time for the Christmas and New Year’s Day revelries.
Health personnel in all hospitals have been ordered to be on standby even during the holidays, said Lopez.
Anti-tetanus vaccines in particular have also been prepared for fireworks-related injuries.
However, Lopez noted that there were no reported fireworks injuries so far, including on Christmas Eve.
While more pyrotechnic displays are expected to be prepared for New Year’s Eve, Filipinos are known to celebrate the entire holiday season with fireworks and firecrackers. (rt)
