A man’s lifeless body was found at sea near a rocky shore beneath a cliff in Barangay Macalingan in Lila town at past 3:10 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon.

According to PO1 Saldy Salvo, the unclothed corpse was found by Delbert Peligro, 38, a security guard of the Alturas Group of Companies, near the town’s Community Fish Landing Center.

The fatality, identified as Celso Cero, a 48-year-old resident of Barangay Nagsulay, Lila, is believed to have drowned while bathing at sea.

There were no indications of foul play behind Cero’s death, said Salvo based on their initial probe.

However, Cero suffered minor bruises in his body which may have been caused by impact against rocks due to the waves in the shallow part of the sea.

According to Salvo, Cero suffered from heartburn prior to having been found dead and was last seen with his brother-in-law, Raul Gamay.

Those who last saw Cero the night before he was found dead did not know where he was headed at the time.

Police meanwhile continued their probe on the case. (R. Tutas)
