Police on Friday night arrested a live-in couple after allegedly yielding a firearms cache and several packets of shabu during a raid in their Dauis home.
The raid was carried out by operatives of the Dauis Police Station and the 703rd Maritime Police Station against Aubrey Taladue, 28, for alleged drug possession.
Operatives of the composite team found 10 assorted .22 caliber rifles inside the house in Barangay Mayacabac and also took into custody Taladua’s live-in partner, Joey Pabalan, 43, police said.
The couple was also allegedly in possession of three grams of shabu with an estimated street value of P20,400.
According to Dauis police chief Sr. Insp. Romar Labasbas, Taladua and Pabalan were included in the town’s drug watch list.
Both suspects will be charged for violations against Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2022 and RA 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Act of 2013.
However, Pabalan said that the firearms belonged to his Canada-based brother, who is a gun enthusiast.
Three of the seized firearms had previous registrations but were expired. (wm)
