Flag-carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) has suspended indefinitely its direct flights between Seoul, South Korea and Bohol after almost two years of servicing the route.

This was confirmed by PAL Bohol manager Emma Caseñas on Tuesday.

“Ang Korea [flights] last pag Sunday ang arrival kasi gi-suspend ang operation,” said Caseñas.

Caseñas did not elaborate on the reason behind the suspension but speculated that stakeholders including the airline started to review the “economics” of the route.

“Wala g’yud koy advisory ngano, pero ang Korea-Bohol mura’g gi-review og balik. Mura’g ang company ana ug ang Korean agent, they still have to sit down and review the economics siguro of the route,” she said.

The airline local official also could not determine whether or not the flights will resume soon.

“Wala pa, nag-huwat pa pod me,” she said.

PAL started its direct Bohol-Korea flights in June, 2017.

The airline used an Airbus 320 to service the route between the Incheon International Airport and the now-defunct Tagbilaran City Airport, and later the Bohol Panglao International Airport. (A. Doydora)
