An alleged drug dealer who suffered a mild stroke while trying to evade police arrest was apprehended during an anti-drug operation in Tagbilaran City on Tuesday afternoon.
Hector Plazabas, 58, was arrested outside a room of a lodging house in Barangay Taloto where he was checked in with a 23-year-old female companion, police said.
He however fell down and lost consciousness. He was instead rushed to the Ramiro Community Hospital for medical assistance.
Plazabas allegedly tried to elude police after he sold shabu to a poseur-buyer but was able to flee after arresting officers jumped off from a moving vehicle.
The suspect was believed to have been caught by surprise and fatigued as he ran causing his blood pressure to shoot up.
Personnel of the Tagbilaran City Medic were immediately deployed to take Plazabas to the hospital. Physicians said that he suffered from mild stroke.
According to authorities, they found an empty container of a sex performance-enhancer and four grams of shabu in Plazabas’ possession.
The seized drugs were estimated to be worth P27,200.
Plazabas continued to recuperate at the hospital but was set to be charged with possession and sale of illegal drugs. (W. Maestrado)
