A maritime student suspected of being a distributor of a previously arrested high-value drug target was allegedly caught in possession of shabu worth P170,000 during an anti-drug operation in Tagbilaran City on Tuesday.

Operatives of the Bohol Provincial Intelligence Branch (PIB) apprehended Jay Salise, a 26-year-old graduating college student, through a buy-bust operation along Z. Bustrillos Street in Barangay Cogon.

Police said that Salise was one of the drug distributors of Geoffrey Silao who was arrested in Tagbilaran City in September last year after he was allegedly caught in possession of shabu worth P1.3 million.

Silao was pinpointed by previously arrested drug peddlers as their shabu source.

Prior to his arrest, Silao went to the Tagbilaran City port to receive drug supply which was shipped from Cebu.

Silao however did not divulge information on which vessel the drugs were transported or who the drugs were from.

The operation against Salise was carried out after he was allegedly spotted selling illegal drugs in Barangay Cogon on Tuesday.

Police said that Salise sold a pack of shabu worth P100,000 to a poseur-buyer leading to his immediate arrest.

The operatives also allegedly seized from the suspect 25 grams of shabu which were estimated to be worth P170,000.

He is now detained at the Bohol Provincial Police Office Headquarters in Camp Francisco Dagohoy in Tagbilaran City pending the filing of charges against him. (wm)
