In the first two months of the year, police in Tagbilaran City seized shabu worth P2.2 million, P200,000 more than the shabu haul for the entire year of 2018.

According to Tagbilaran City police chief Supt. Christopher Navida, they confiscated 382 grams of shabu in just 15 operations carried out from January 1 to late February.

Navida said that police seized 297 grams of shabu in Tagbilaran City from January 1, 2018 to December 31, 2018.

The annual drug haul for 2018 was estimated to be worth P2 million.

According to Navida, police forces in the entire region have intensified their campaigns against narcotics trade under Police Regional Office 7 director Chief Supt. Debold Sinas, yielding more shabu through anti-drug operations.

“In the constant visit of our regional director, General Sinas, [the goal] is to really intensify yung campaign natin against illegal drugs. At the same time, malaki din ang nakukuha from other cities and provinces in Region 7,” said Navida.

Navida noted that the Provincial Intelligence Branch (PIB) meanwhile has been verifying unconfirmed reports regarding the “recycling” of shabu or the resale of drugs seized by police.

“Na-mention, merong sabi-sabi, we are also validating those information. But through the Provincial Intelligence Branch of Bohol, we have not received any information na na-recycle ang illegal drugs,” he said.

Navida took over the helm of the Tagbilaran City Police Station in January, this year.

His transfer was part of a major overhaul of the Bohol Provincial Police Office leadership which included the appointment of a new BPPO director, Sr. Supt. Julius Gornez. (AD)
