The two dioceses in the province will launch today a relentless campaign to remind every voter on the need to have a clean and honest election which is set on May 13.

A pastoral letter signed by Bishop Alberto Uy and Bishop Patrick Daniel Parcon of the Diocese of Tagbilaran and Diocese of Talibon, respectively, will echo during Holy Masses in all parishes today to officially launch CHAMP, the anchor campaign for a Clean, Honest, Accurate, Meaningful and Peaceful election.

Bishop Uy officiates at the 9 o’clock mass today at the St. Joseph Cathedral to be heard worldwide  overdyRD-AM. The covenant signing will be held during the mass.

The Church kicks off its pastoral letter with the stand of Pope Francis which states that politics is basic for the enhancement of the people’s welfare if politicians will only listen to what they (public) need and find the solutions of the problems confronting society.

The pastoral letter reiterated the need to have God at the center of one’s life in order to achieve, “One Good Vote”, a vote that will be a product of prayers, reflection coupled with the determination not to sell one’s vote on election day.

Today’s launching of CHAMP will also bring the candidates to sign a covenant that enumerates the essence on how to have a clean and honest election. This is in joint efforts of the Commission on Election and the Philippine National Police.

The Church calls on the candidates to pray for enlightenment  in order to be able to come up with a good planning for good governance once they get elected.   The supporters are also requested to pray in order to choose whom to support.

The pastoral letter urged voters to actively participate in the voters’ education by commissioning themselves as members in the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV).
