Bohol continues to register decreasing crime volume as the campaign against illegal drugs has been sustained at a rate Gov. Edgar Chatto prescribed in line with his administration’s all-out war against all forms of criminality.

In its report during the joint meeting of the Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) and the Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council (PADAC), the Bohol Police Provincial Office (BPPO) stated that crime volume recorded in the month January continued to reduce from 567 in 2017 to 555 in 2018 to 517 in 2019.

January records of the index crimes also show continued decrease from 195 in 2017 to 171 in 2018, and further to 124 this year.

Non-index crimes during the first month of the year, on the other hand have been increasing from 372 in 2017 to 384 in 2018 and 393 this year.

In the January statistics of index crimes, theft has been consistently on top with 68 cases in 2017, then 79 cases in 2018, and 52 cases in 2019.

Physical injuries followed with 67 cases in 2017, then 46 in 2018 and 28 this year.

Robbery ranked third with 37 cases in 2017, then 23 cases in 2018 and 23 cases also this year.

The BPPO also recorded six rape cases in 2017, then eight in 2018, and seven this year.

For murder, the BPPO recorded eight cases in 2017, then six in 2018, and seven cases this year. 

The January statistics also show one case of homicide in 2017, then four in 2018, and two in 2019

For theft of motorcycles, the statistics also show four cases in 2017, then five in 2018, and four also in 2019.

There had been no case of carnapping in this comparative statistics.        

For cattle rustling, four cases were recorded in the first month of 2017, and one in 2018, while there was on this year.

In the anti-illegal drugs campaign in the first two months of this year, the BPPO confiscated a total of 483.5 grams of shabu with estimated value of P4.152 million.

Of this, 184.05 grams worth P2.116 million were confiscated in January, and 299.45 grams worth P2.046 million in February.

This resulted from the 33 operations in January and 36 operations in February or a total of 69 operations conducted in the first two months this year.

The operations also resulted to the arrest of 94 persons and filing of 121 cases in court.

 The record shows that 50 of these persons were arrested in January and 44 in February.

  AT least 69 cases were filed in January and 52 in February.
