A 62-year-old woman, while waiting for a commuter vehicle with her two nieces, fell prey to a highway robber who held her at gunpoint in broad daylight along a national road in Baclayon on Thursday.
The still unidentified armed suspect stole the victim’s belongings and immediately sped away on board a Toyota Avanza, said Patrolman Protacio Man-on of the Baclayon Police Station.
According to Man-on, the vehicle fled towards Tagbilaran City following incident.
Man-on said that the victim, identified Estrella Jayectin, resident of Barangay San Vicente, Baclayon, was standing at the side of the road with her two underage nieces when the suspect suddenly stopped in front of her.
The suspect, who covered his face with a cloth, pointed a gun at her then took her bag which contained cash, a cellphone and other personal belongings.
Jayectin immediately alerted the police after the incident but the authorities were unable to catch up with the suspect.
Investigators meanwhile launched a probe on the case. (AD)
