A 41-year-old woman was hacked to death while sleeping beside her two minor sons by a still unidentified suspect in Getafe town in the wee hours of Saturday, police said.
According Getafe police chief Sr. Insp. Benicer Tamboboy, the victim’s 10-year-old son woke up with his mother unconscious and drenched in her own blood at past 1 a.m. prompting him to alert neighbors.
The fatality, identified as Annabelle Pequero, 41, was rushed to a hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
Tamboboy said that investigators faced a blank wall as to the motive and suspect behind the grisly murder.
Based on testimonies from persons close to Pequero, she had no known enemies and was not engaged in any conflict prior to her death.
Both Pequero’s sons who were beside her during her killing did not notice the attack while none of her neighbors reported any unusual activities.
Tamboboy however noted that the suspect may have carried out the attack with deep ire based on the strokes of the hacking.
Pequero lived only with her two sons, aged 10 and 2, at their home in Barangay Campao Oriental in Getafe.
Her husband was based in Mindanao due to work, Tamboboy said.
Investigators meanwhile continued their probe on the case as Tamboboy noted that resolution of the case will highly depend on the surfacing of a witness. (A. Doydora)
