A 23-year-old fresh graduate from a maritime school was killed after the motorcycle he was driving accidentally rammed an electric post in Tagbilaran City at past midnight on Sunday.
Carlos Saquilabon, who had just graduated from the PMI Colleges in Tagbilaran City last month, was rushed to a hospital but was declared dead on arrival, said Staff Sgt. Klaus Paredes of the Tagbilaran police.
Saquilabon was heading towards downtown Tagbilaran City when he suddenly swerved towards the opposite lane and hit a Bohol Light electric post across the Yucon Building along JA Clarin Street in Barangay Dampas.
The victim sustained severe injuries to the head causing his death, said Paredes.
Paredes noted that Saquilabon was wearing a half-face helmet but this was not enough to completely protect his head from injuries.
Friends of the victim told authorities that Saquilabon was under the influence of alcohol during the accident. (A. Doydora)
