A 39-year-old man was shot dead in front of his family by three still unidentified masked assailants in Inabanga.
Manila-based Carlos Vitor Ansano, Jr., who went home for their village’s fiesta, was gunned down while mixing cement near his family’s residence in Barangay Nabuad, Inabanga on Thursday morning, said Staff Sgt. Ronel Torefel of the Inabanga Police Station.
Ansano who was with his sister, brother-in-law and one other man during the attack died on the spot.
“Digto ra ni siya duol sa ilang bay kay nagmasa kay nagkural man sila. Diha kunoy tulo ka taw na mi-kalit og duol na nagpurong kuno og sinina. Nakit-an sa iyang kauban ning tulo pero wa jud silay nailhan,” said Torefel.
The suspects who rode a motorcycle parked their vehicle near the road and walked towards the victim who was in the interior area of the village.
“Nagsakay motor unya gi-parking sa daplin sa karsada. Unya kaning bay sa biktimi kay sundlonon man gamay, kasagingan, gisud kuno agto,” said Torefel.
The gunmen did not converse with the victim as they just shot him right away.
“Wa na ga-storya, largo ra’g pusil,” Torefel added.
Meanwhile, police recovered five spent shells and one slug from a .45 caliber pistol and one round and four empty shells from a 9mm pistol at the crime scene.
Investigators have yet to pinpoint a motive behind the brazen daylight gun attack.
According to Torefel, Ansano, who has not been in the province for a long time, arrived in Bohol on April 25.
He was reportedly convicted of a gun charge before and was believed to have been using illegal drugs.
“Among bana-bana basin personal grudges ba kanang iyang mga kontra ra sa palibot or unsa. Nangutana mi og nagduwa ba ni og shabu, wa man kuno. Pero miangkon ang iguson na mura’g kabantay kuno siya na mura og mo-gamit,” said Torefel.
However, Cagatin noted that Ansano was not listed in their drug watchlist nor was he a surrenderor during the implementation of Oplan Tokhang in 2016.
Ansano’s family also told authorities that the victim previously figured in a property dispute, but the issue had long been settled. (Allen Doydora)
