A motorcyclist was shot dead by a still unidentified suspect in broad daylight along a national highway in Barangay Canapnapan in Corella at past 10 a.m. on Monday.
Police Corporal Christopher Ramirez of the Corella Police Station identified the fatality as Elmer Matias, 30, a native of Mahayag, Davao City and a temporary resident of the said village.
Matias who sustained two gunshot wounds in the head died on the spot.
“Kaning biktima gasakay ni sa iyang XRM gikan sa Sikatuna kay mipalit siya’g sud-an pang paniudto. Pag-abot niya sa kilometer 13 sa Canapnapan gi pusil siya, mura’g gisundan,” said Ramirez.
Residents in the village told police that after they heard gunshots they saw a man riding a MIO motorcycle speeding away from the area.
“Nakakita mi didto og tulo ka kabhang sa bala,” Ramirez added. “Way laing milabay kuno didto kanang MIO ra. Black yellow na combination, siya ra usa sakay.”
According to Ramirez, they are eyeing personal conflict as possible motive behind the gun attack.
Based on their initial probe, Ramirez said that Matias recently figured in a heated argument with a resident in Barangay Canapnapan.
Investigators meanwhile continued their probe on the case. (Allen. Doydora)
