Eight towns in Bohol are one drug-cleared barangay away from being declared drug-free by the multi-agency Regional Oversight Committee (ROC) 7 led by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).
This was based on data released by newly appointed PDEA Bohol chief Joseph Theodore Atila during the joint Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) and Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council (PADAC) meeting at the Capitol on Wednesday.
According to the data, the towns of Batuan, Calape, Jagna, Lila, Pilar, San Isidro, Trinidad and Valencia have only one barangay each which have not been cleared by the ROC.
In total, there were 349 villages across the province declared drug-free by the ROC. These were from 23 towns and Tagbilaran City, the data said.
The following are municipalities with barangays cleared by the ROC:
· -Alburquerue – 8 barangays

· -Tagbilaran City – 1 barangay
· -Tubigon – 1 barangay

· -Valencia – 34 barangays
However, Atila clarified that all of the villages cleared by the ROC will have to undergo revalidation.
“As of today, naa tay kanang mga reevaluation because that circular from the Dangerous Drugs Board provides that after clearing, naa siya’y revalidation,” he said.
Of the 349 drug-cleared villages, 93 have been revalidated.
“For those LGU members of this council na wala pa na adtuan, in the next few days moabot ang atong regional oversight committee representatives to validate” said Atila.
According to Atila, shabu remained to be the top used and sold illegal drug in Bohol, followed by marijuana and Nalbuphine or Nubain. (R. Tutas)
