A collector for a Carmen-based cooperative lost money which he had just collected after he was allegedly held up by two armed men in San Miguel town on Tuesday.

Mario Abaniel, 34, handed over to the suspects P25,000 in cash and his cellphone after he was held at gunpoint along a national road in Barangay Camanaga at past 3 p.m., said Sr. Master Sgt. Anecito Lacierda of the San Miguel police.

The motorcycle-riding men who rode in tandem were trailing Abaniel from Trinidad before they pounced at a secluded area in San Miguel.

“Gi sundan ag biktima unya kadtong naka lugar na, hing overtake sila, mihunong then ni-declare og ‘hold up’ unya mi ti-on og armas ngadto sa biktima,” Lacierda said.

There were no witnesses as the alleged robbery took place at a remote area.

According to Lacierda, Abaniel was already headed to the Carmen Multi-Purpose Cooperative in Vallehermoso, Carmen to remit the collected money during the incident.

The suspects immediately fled following the robbery, possibly towards Carmen, said Lacierda.

Meanwhile, police continued their probe on the case.

Lacierda said that they are already eyeing two possible suspects behind the highway robbery but did not divulge further information so as not jeopardize the ongoing investigation. (A. Doydora)
