A 15-year-old boy on Wednesday hanged himself inside his family’s home in Dauis town after he was scolded by his father for frequently skipping class.
According to Corporal Richard Quinlahi of the Dauis police, Mark (not his real name), was found by his father suspended from the ceiling with a rope tied around his neck at around 5:30 p.m.
The municipal health officer who responded to the emergency alert declared Mark dead on the spot.
Prior to hanging himself, Mark locked himself inside their house in Marcela Homes in Barangay Tabalong, Dauis when his family went out.
“Nanirado ni siya sa iyang balay. Pag abli na sa amahan mga 5:30 mao na pud to iyang nakit-an na nagbitay na,” said Quinlahi.
Mark’s father admitted that he scolded him for skipping school, although the boy seemed fine as he was still seen by the family at lunchtime inside their home.
“Baw og gi ayo-ayo ba niya’g kasab basta ang gistorya ra niya, gikasab-an to niya ganinang buntag kay sige’g absent unya gihatagan pud og bawn na P50 para mo eskwela unya wa mo skwela ba,” Quinlahi added.
Meanwhile, police based on findings of the MHO said that there were no indications of foul play behind Mark’s death. (A. Doydora)
