Mayor Joseph “JR” Rañola of Jagna, during his inaugural address on Saturday, revealed to the public his monthly salary as town chief executive to highlight his administration’s campaign for transparency in government.

“I am receiving P129,529 monthly as basic salary,”  he said.

The new mayor did not only disclose his own salary but that of the rest of the town officials including his heads of offices.

He revealed that his vice mayor will be receiving P107,666 while the town councilors will get P98,921 each.

“This inaugural address is already Day 1 of my work under a transparent governance,”  Rañola said.

He was applauded 35 times while delivering his inaugural address in Cebuano and Tagalog. He got the loudest applause when he  assured residents of the town of a “no-corruption” governance under his administration.

The first-time mayor asked the public to directly report to him any “smell of corruption” while he assured that he will not tolerate government employees to be outside of their offices, playing tennis or loitering around town during office hours.

Rañola who is the CEO of the Philippine Center for National Budget in Manila, said he wants the people of Jagna to get educated on how their officials spend government funds.

He reported that the municipality has an unspent budget of P95 million—P35 million coming from the capital outlay and P60 million as savings of the previous administration.

Municipal Circuit Trial Court Judge Merian Tradio swore Rañola as well as Councilors Anthony Aniscal, Noelle Acedillo, Edsel Tutor and Wilfredo Viñalon into office during the inaugural ceremony.

A Holy Mass was officiated before the oath-taking ceremonies by Msgr. Ignacio Reyes.

Municipal Local Government Operations Officer Vincent Igcalinos delivered the welcome address during the program while the mayor’s only daughter Joy Bianca S. Rañola rendered a song as an intermission number. Becky Saletrero-Rañola, wife of the mayor graced the affair.
