An Indian national who engaged in money lending landed in the hospital after he was shot in broad daylight in a highway robbery in Talibon, police said.
According to Master Sgt. Luigi Gabisan of the Talibon Police Station, Kameldeep Singh, 28, was shot in the chest after he was unable to give more money to two still unidentified suspects.
Singh handed over P5,000 but had nothing else to give when the robbers demanded for more money.
Gabisan said that Singh was driving his motorcycle from Tubigon where he collected loan payment on Saturday afternoon when he was flagged down and robbed in Barangay Burgos, Talibon, then shot by one of the suspects.
Following the incident, the robbers immediately fled the area on board a motorcycle while the victim was rushed to a hospital where he was treated for his injury.
Investigators meanwhile continued their probe on the case to identify the suspects. (ad)
