Former provincial administrator Alfonso Damalerio II became one of the latest victims in the rash of household break-ins that has plagued Tagbilaran City for several weeks now after two still unidentified burglars broke into his convenience store and carted away various items including gadgets.
In a report, police said that two suspects who were wearing helmets were caught on closed-circuit television camera (CCTV) as they forcibly opened the roll-up door of the Ever Essence One-Stop Mart in Barangay San Isidro at dawn on Wednesday.
The two burglars then broke the store’s glass window to gain entry.
According to police, the suspects took grocery items, a laptop and mobile phone which were worth a total of around P60,000 and P5,000 cash.
They fled with the cash and items on board a motorcycle.
Meanwhile, personnel from the Intelligence and Theft and Robbery Sections of the Tagbilaran City Police Station have been tasked to conduct investigations on the case.
Tagbilaran City has been grappling with a series of theft and burglary cases which police have blamed on the purported dwindling drug supply in the city and the release of drug offenders through the plea bargaining agreement.
Police have alleged that some drug personalities have either diversified their illegal operations or have shifted to theft and burglary. (WM)
