The Catigbian National High School of Catigbian bagged the top plum of the Sandugo street dancing and performance arts competition held along CPG Avenue and at the CPG Sports Complex in Tagbilaran City on Saturday.

The school took home a trophy and P300,000. It was also recognized as best in Drama Production, Music and Design which earned them a total of P30,000, or P10,000 for each of the minor awards.

Baclayon National High School which represented the Baclayon Local Government Unit and Lumad Tubignon which represented the Tubigon LGU were adjudged first runner-up and second runner-up, respectively.

Baclayon was awarded P250,000 while Tubigon got P200,000.

Meanwhile, Saint Anthony Academy of Carmen won best in Street Dancing, earning the school P30,000.

Most Lively Group (P10,000) – LGU Tubigon/Lumad Tubignon

Best in costume (P10,000) – Saint Anthony Academy of Carmen

Best Kuradang King and Queen  – Saint Anthony Academy of Carmen

Best Performer in a Lead Role (P2,500) – Male Category: Catigbian National High School, Female Category: Saint Anthony Academy of Carmen

Rains slightly dampened the mood at the open CPG Sports Complex but the show went on with several top government officials in attendance including Governor Arthur Yap, who showed acknowledgement for the performances of the contingents.

“We are all very proud and impressed,” said Yap.

The governor said that the judges for this year’s Sandugo street dancing and performance arts competition added prestige to the event. The three-man judging panel was led by theater artist Cecile Guidote-Alvarez, a former nominee for National Artist.

 “Mga professional ni [judges]…impressed na impressed sila sa atong mga arts and literature. Mao na dakong kalipay nako na ni-abot na sa anang level ang atong mga performers na nagpakita na lawom ang culture sa atong mga kabatan-onan,” he said.
