A 38-year-old man was critically injured after his motorcycle was accidentally hit by a commuter bus in Loboc town on Sunday night.
Staff Sgt. Urven Molina of the Loboc Police Station identified the fatality as Leonard Bayonas, 38, a resident of Barangay Camayaan of the said town.
According to Molina, Bayonas turned to a national highway from a barangay road in the village of Camayaan when his motorcycle was grazed by a Southern Star bus.
Bayonas incurred severe injuries and was rushed to a private hospital in Tagbilaran City.
Molina, based on statements from those who know Bayonas, said that the victim was under the influence of alcohol during the accident.
Bayonas who was driving without a shirt also did not wear protective headgear.
Meanwhile, the bus driver, Rene Mascarinas was placed under police custody following the incident. He was released on Monday morning after the victim’s family and the bus firm reached an amicable settlement.
Based on the latest information gathered by police, Bayonas had blood clot in his head. (A. Doydora)
