2 brothers dead in car-motorcycle collision in Dagohoy

Two brothers were killed following a head-on collision between their motorcycle and a sedan in Barangay San Vicente, Dagohoy on Monday afternoon.

The fatalities, Jess Cañada, 26, and Edward Cañada, 41, of Barangay Cagawasan, Dagohoy died on the spot.

According to Staff Sgt. Jerry Pacanza, investigator for the Dagohoy Police Station, Jess was driving their Honda XRM at a “blind spot” along an uphill road when he slammed straight into a Toyota Vios.

Pacanza said that the vehicles collided at the middle of the road.

The Toyota Vios which was driven by one Cesar Barotil, 59, was heading towards Loon from San Miguel town while the Cañadas were on their way home to Barangay Cagawasan, Dagohoy from Carmen.

Pacanza said that the brothers were thrown away from their motorcycle following the impact, while Barotil sustained minor injuries.

Only the younger Cañada was wearing a helmet, he added.

Meanwhile, Barotil was taken into police custody and will be charged with reckless imprudence resulting to homicide if he and the victims’ family do not reach an amicable settlement. (R. Tutas)
