A man tagged by police as a big-time drug dealer and who was recently released from prison and his girlfriend were arrested in an anti-drug operation in Tagbilaran City on Tuesday.
In a report, police said that Charlie Bantawig, 24, and Jeralind Jumamil, 30, both residents of the city were collared in a drug buy-bust operation led by the Tagbilaran City Police Station intelligence section.
Operatives only seized six sachets of shabu from both suspects but Tagbilaran City Police chief Lt. Col. Christopher Navida said that the duo was moving large amounts of shabu based on a ledger found in their possession.
Bantawig who was previously arrested for a drug charge was released from prison after entering a plea bargaining agreement earlier this year.
Jumamil, a daughter of a police officer, was the girlfriend of Richard “Bagtok” de Leon, a drug-linked 20-year-old who was shot dead near the Land Transportation Office – Tagbilaran in broad daylight on June 17.
She was riding on de Leon’s motorcycle when the gunman shot him in the head at point-blank range.
Both Bantawig and Jumamil are now detained at the Tagbilaran City Police Station lock-up jail pending the filing of charges against them. (WM)
